zuótiān(昨天)= yesterday
jīntiān(今天)= today
míngtiān(明天)= tomorrow

Zuótiān xīngqī yī.(昨天星期一。)= Yesterday was Monday.
Jīntiān xīngqī èr.(今天星期二。)= Today is Tuesday.
Míngtiān xīngqī sān.(明天星期三。)= Tomorrow Wednesday.

Jīntiān xīngqī jǐ? (今天星期几?) = What day is it today?

Today we will learn how to answer it in Mandarin Chinese?

How to answer “What day is it today”  in Mandarin Chinese?

When you answer “What day is it today?”, you can say:

Jīntiān xīngqī yī. (今天星期一。) = Today is Monday.
jīntiān (今天)= today
xīngqī yī(星期一)


The rule:
today + the day of the week

You can also say:

Jīntiān xīngqī èr. (今天星期二。) = Today is Tuesday.
Jīntiān xīngqī sān. (今天星期三。) = Today is Wednesday.
Jīntiān xīngqī sì. (今天星期四。) = Today is Thursday.
Jīntiān xīngqī wǔ. (今天星期五。) = Today is Friday.
Jīntiān xīngqī liù. (今天星期六。) = Today is Saturday.
Jīntiān xīngqī tiān. (今天星期天。) = Today is Sunday.

How to say the days of the week in Chinese? (Beginners)

In English, you say “Monday”, “Tuesday”, “Wednesday”… But in Chinese, you say “week one”, “week two”, “week three” etc. I have already showed you how to count numbers in Chinese. Now I will tell you how to say “week” in Chinese:
xīngqī = week, 星期

So, now you can easily joint “week” and the numbers together that refers to the days of the week in Chinese.
xīngqī yī = Monday, 星期一
xīngqī èr = Tuesday, 星期二
xīngqī sān = Wednesday, 星期三
xīngqī sì = Thursday, 星期四
xīngqī wǔ = Friday, 星期五
xīngqī liù = Saturday, 星期六
xīngqī qī ≠ Sunday, xīngqī tiān = Sunday, 星期天
